On July 9, 2021, sub-project 2 "Artificial hip joint research and development of key technologies and complete sets of equipment for artificial hip bioprinting for precision medicine" (project number: BE2016010-2), the key research and development plan of Jiangsu Province from 2016 to 2019 The project acceptance meeting for the development of cartilage biomaterials, processes and equipment” was successfully held in Jiangyin Baiqiao Biological Park.

This project aims at the clinical problem that the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene or ceramic acetabular linings rub against each other during long-term use and produce wear debris, which leads to aseptic loosening of the artificial joint prosthesis and limits the long-term efficacy of artificial hip replacement. The development of artificial hip cartilage biomaterials, processes and equipment was carried out. According to the printing needs of bionic active hip cartilage, the project has developed a variety of photosensitive natural bio-inks and upgraded the production process of bio-inks to GMP level; developed a bionic cartilage ECM bio-ink printing system; developed a bionic cartilage ECM bio-ink printing system; Standard acetabular cartilage lining 3D fabrication process; an in vitro dynamic pressurized bioreactor was developed. After the 3D printed acetabular cartilage lining and the metal hip prosthesis printed by the project team Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics were assembled, hip replacement was performed and implanted in sheep, and the preliminary feasibility was verified. At present, the project has applied for 2 national invention patents, obtained 2 authorized utility models, and published 2 related scientific papers. The biomimetic cartilage hydrogel with independent intellectual property rights and the key technology of bioprinting acetabular cartilage lining have been formed.

The meeting was chaired by Qin Wei, director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Jiangyin High-tech Industrial Development Zone. Professor Jin Jian, Dean of School of Pharmacy, Jiangnan University, Professor Wang Jinwu, Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Director Sun Jian, Children's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University, Professor Liu Hua, Shanghai Medical University, and Deputy Wang Shaomei, Nanjing Jingchun Accounting Firm The director formed the acceptance committee, with Professor Jin as the group leader. The acceptance guests carefully listened to the project report of the project implementer, Manager Zhu Hailin of Jiangyin Stey, and the project summary of the CEO Professor Chen Huimin.
